Yoga, Reiki, Spiritual Counseling, Occupational Therapy
In 1982, she graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. She has utilized these skills in psychiatry, in- and outpatient rehabilitation centers, skilled nursing facilities, as well as the educational system. Her work with children, adolescents, adults, and the elderly have offered Barbara many life-changing experiences and a passion for providing services to others.
In 1993, she received a Master of Arts degree in Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from the University of South Florida. Her studies required working with children and adults with a variety of psychosocial needs. It was at this time that it became very clear that there was a need for healing beyond that which could be accomplished through the medical field alone. Accessing that other dimension spurred additional studies in metaphysics.
In 2006, Barbara sought intensive Hatha Yoga training in Reno, Nevada through Yoga Loka. Pranayama (the study of the breath), meditation, Ayurvedic Health and Medicine and the study of the Chakras were all part of this curriculum. During this year, she focused her yoga practice on self-healing followed by a calling to teach others. The invitation to unite the mind, body, and spirit offers the individual space to look within. This allows discovery of the truth of who you really are and how to fulfill your individual needs. Children with characteristics of ADHD/ADD, Autism, learning disabilities, as well as genetic and metabolic disorders greatly benefit from movement and energy healing.
Barbara received her Reiki I and II attunements in 2007 followed by Reiki Teacher/Master certification in 2009. For the past few years, she has been creatively weaving Eastern and Western concepts to promote the highest level of healing for people and animals of all ages. Barbara completed a Doctor of Divinity in Spiritual Counseling degree in October of 2012 from the University of Metaphysical Sciences in Arcata, California. The pursuit of this degree has opened many doors for delving into the unseen and as a path for healing the past, present, and future.
Holistic therapies are not a replacement for immediate or traumatic medical care, acute illness, or replacements for certain traditional therapies. Holistic therapies are wonderful complements to many traditional therapies and help the healing process move along faster or provide additional physical, emotional, or mental support during your healing process.
